In May, The Training and Education Group brought together five specialists in the field of bladder, bowel and skin management that focused on providing case managers with essential knowledge on the effective management of conditions arising from spinal cord injuries.
BABICM Best Practice Poster Competition 2023 Winners Announced
On the 6th & 7th June 2023 BABICM presented their annual conference entitled ‘Steering Steady in a World of Complexity” at the Coventry Building Society Arena, Coventry. This year, for the first time, there was an award of £500 to the best poster, and an opportunity to write an article or present their work next year at Conference.

BABICM members take part in published research
BABICM members took part in a research study, organised by the BABICM Research Group in conjunction with Plymouth University and recently published in the Journal of Long Term Care 1. The study showed that a good outcome in brain injury case management is client-centred and determined either by the client or in conjunction with the client, and where appropriate, their family to achieve improved quality of life1.

Jeff Goodright, Director at Cyber Spider hosted a workshop this month exploring how values, beliefs and experiences can affect decision-making in the workplace. The workshop looked at how values are developed, and discussed ethnocentrism, prejudice and discrimination and their impact on professional decision-making.

Registration of Case Management services in Wales - response received
Following on from the report received from Andy Brown at the CQC in response to our request for clarification of registration of Case Managers. Angela Kerr Chair of BABICM and Karen Burgin from CMSUK had a meeting with the CIW (Care Inspectorate Wales) to discuss registration of Case Managers in Wales on the 11th October 2019. We have now received their response.
