For those that attended day 1 of our conference you will know that Celia Kitzinger’s talk sparked lively debate around the withdrawal of nutrition and hydration for minimum awareness state patients in particular Nurses and Doctors responsibilities. As a result of the discussions Celia has been in touch with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and British Medical Association (BMA) whose Development Specialist is reviewing what they feel is their “misleading guidance”. This is testament to BABICM’s role in challenging and refining current practice.
