FREE WEBINAR SERIES – Postural Care: How to Minimise The Risk of Pressure Ulcers and Manage Contractures – Module 4

BABICM have teamed up with Symmetrikit to bring you our latest online bitesize series.

This training will be presented in 4 modules across two weeks and led by Physiotherapist Rosie Bartlett. This online event series is FREE to attend for BABICM members and will cover the following:

Monday 11th January 2021 at 11am – 11.45am

Module 1: explores the concept of postural care, what it is and why it is needed. It also looks at pressurization and the work of an American Physical therapist called Mary Massery. Balancing, tone and the challenges of ageing are also examined.

Friday 15th January 2021 at 11am- 12pm

Module 2 and 3 run one after the other. Module 2 focuses on body shape and its implications for tissue viability. Pressure and microclimate are examined in detail as are the risks to bed bound patients. We also discuss the NPUAP guidelines in conjunction with the three most widely used assessment tools. Module 3 covers contractures and paratonia looking particularly at risks to immobile patients.

Wednesday 20th January 2021 at 11am -12pm

Module 4 is a ‘practical’ session looking at the solutions that exist to manage the posture as part of a 24 hour approach. It also includes case studies and a review and summary.

At the end of each module there will be an opportunity for a live Q and A session with Physiotherapist Rosie Bartlett and one of Symmetrikits Postural Care Advisers.
