We will look at the key considerations when supporting a child or young person with an acquired brain injury in the community.
This will include:
– hidden disability, unmet/unrecognised needs
– concussion/mild TBI
– stages of transition
– impact on participation
– return to activity
– case study examples
This session will help to support maximising a child’s participation, understanding the impact of early intervention and supporting a change in the child’s trajectory, as well as providing some understanding of the impact of recognising a child’s unmet needs, vs. the impact of these needs not being recognised.
This session is aimed at health, education and social care teams, as well as case managers supporting children in the community.
This session will be presented by Susie Nolan and Alison Fletcher from the Brain Injury Community Service at The Childrens Trust.
