Support Packages: The Devil is in the Detail – Part 1

An informative webinar series across four weeks, guiding case managers through the process of setting up and managing support packages for our clients. Sessions will include tips, hints and information about topics such as considering agency versus direct employment, record keeping and managing employment issues. Of particular interest to case managers will be the session on CQC compliance and how to navigate the process both during the initial set up and on an ongoing basis. The series will be wrapped up with two presentations from two families of service users exploring their lived experience of having support workers in the family home and what we might need to consider.

Session 4: The family’s perspective of a care package – 24th November 2022

Katie Strong – Managing Partner of London Court of Protection at Irwin Mitchell

From the perspective of a property and affairs deputy, Katie Strong will talk about supporting clients with direct employment of support workers and the challenges that may arise, provide an insight on costs, explore the case manager’s position and delineation of roles between the deputy and case manager and how to achieve this, and consider what a deputy requires of the case manager to ensure compliance and high quality practice.

This session will also look at care packages from a family’s perspective. Family member Michael Anderson will also be speaking on his on personal experience of in-home care packages for his 28 years old son.
