Recording Good Case Management in Settled and Unsettled Cases – Session 3

This brand new webinar series looks at how good case management is recorded, focusing on protecting the professionalism of case managers.  This series will look at case management/expert witness reporting writing, the rehab code and INA’s.

Confirmed Sessions 

Session 1 : 5th May 2022 at 11am  – Case management from an insurers perspective 

Raouf Achour – Partner at Horwich Farrelly

Raouf joined Horwich Farrelly in 2015 and was made Partner in 2019. Raouf has over 15 years’ experience of defending personal injury claims on behalf of insurers.  He is experienced in all aspects of quantum, complex liability enquiries, indemnity issues and policy disputes arising from misrepresentation and ambiguous policy wording.  He is instructed in a variety of catastrophic claims including employers’ liability, public and occupiers liability and works closely with a number of UK insurers advising on early stage investigations through to resolution. Raouf is experienced in dealing with multi-million pound claims involving complex rehabilitation packages and can advise on complex settlements involving statutory funding and Periodical Payment Orders. Raouf regularly delivers training to insurers on a wide range of topics.

Session 2 : 12th May 2022 at 11am – Case management from an litigating solicitor’s perspective 

Andrew Lilley – Partner at JMW Solicitors

Andrew is the head of the firm’s industrial disease team and also has substantial experience in the area of catastrophic injury cases . He has dealt with numerous multi-million pound settlements and is experienced at taking over problem files from other firms , in one year alone settling 3 transferred cases for a total of £13.5 million pounds. Andrew is noted for his client care, and is regularly listed in Legal Guides, previously being described by them as ‘dogged’ and ‘highly regarded’. He is the firms appointed representative for both Headway and the Spinal Injuries Association, and is proud to be a Trustee of Headway Preston and Chorley. In the asbestos disease arena he had been involved in a number of ground breaking cases, including the reported case of Matthews v Herbert Collins Ltd.

  • Support worker records – review of them and also what’s helpful to include
  • Report writing – good report writing, getting started, what to include

Session 3 : 19th May 2022 at 11am – Case management from a care expert’s perspective 

  • What is helpful in terms of clinical notes

  • When the case manager and expert’s opinion differs

 

Session 4: 26th May 2022 at 11am – Case management from a Deputy’s  perspective 

Caroline Featherby – Solicitor in the Mental Capacity Team at Enable Law

Caroline is a  Solicitor in the Mental Capacity team specialising in Court of Protection work. This includes making deputyship applications, managing complex property and affairs, acting for both children and adults who have suffered a brain injury or adults that lack mental capacity to manage their finances due to dementia, making Statutory Will applications, putting Lasting Powers of Attorney and Personal Injury Trusts in place.

Caroline has significant experience in considering investment opportunities and working closely with financial advisors and investment managers, buying and selling property, project managing adaptations of property and liaising closely with the client, their family and support team.

  • Requirements of the deputy in terms of COP
  • Sharing of SUP
