DWF LLP is looking to recruit a Medical Rehabilitation Manager – we are flexible on location and welcome applications nationwide on a full/part-time basis.

DWF’s Major Injury Team is one of the largest in the UK and is recognised nationally for its expertise in relation to complex injury claims. A unique feature of our service is our team of Medical Rehabilitation Managers (MRM). The MRMs identify potentially serious medical issues at the earliest opportunity and support the planning of cost effective case management strategies. The MRMs evaluate claims effectively, accurately and offer appropriate rehabilitation solutions to those with life changing injuries.

Job description

  • Analysis of immediate needs: Interpretation, analysis and advice on the Immediate Needs Assessment, the likely effectiveness and clinical justification, if any, for recommendations, sense-checking costings as advocated by the case manager and overall cost of ongoing rehabilitation recommendations.
  • Rehabilitation teams: Assess suitability of, and/or recommend, case managers, and clinical therapists; attending MDT meetings as a shadow case manager to proffer advice and guidance on the proposed rehabilitation package. Ensuring goals are clinically justified and achievable.
  • Analysis of key issues: Reviewing records and producing detailed chronologies whilst analysing key issues in the case to assist the lawyers and insurer clients manage the claim; considering pre-morbid health, likely implications on the ‘but for’ needs and long-term needs.
  • Medico-legal experts: Assess suitability of, and/or recommend, medical and care experts and critiquing medical evidence.
  • Technical surgeries: Building knowledge of new medical and rehabilitation products and services.
  • Networking: Building rapport with case manager, clinicians and medico-legal experts.
  • Lawyers: Being a medical point of contact for the lawyers and clients regarding bespoke queries.

What we are looking for:

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a qualified healthcare professional;
  • Be registered with a professional body;
  • Have sufficient post –qualification experience;
  • Have experience of brain injury, spinal injury and/or amputation patients;
  • Have a sound understanding of NICE guidelines, statutory healthcare polices and relevant clinical best practice;
  • Be enthusiastic and willing to work as part of a team with the lawyers and insurer clients;

 

Travel to other DWF offices is a necessary part of this role, although it will not be a regular occurrence.
